The Good Registry Welcomes The Starship Foundation!

We’re excited to welcome The Starship Foundation into The Good Registry charity whānau. Starship joined us in December 2022, and quickly became a popular choice for redeeming gift cards over the holidays.

Starship is New Zealand’s national children’s hospital, firmly focused on accelerating world class healthcare for all Kiwi children.

There are more than 140,000 patient visits to Starship Child Health each year including around 1000 outreach clinics where Starship clinicians offer specialist consultation and support to their peers all around New Zealand.

From life-saving research, prevention, whānau support, and long-term care, donations enable Starship to positively impact the lives of sick children in Aotearoa.

Thomas, a child born with a condition which 10 years ago would have meant he spent his life in hospital indefinitely, was able to go home with his family thanks to the 'long-term ventilation care pilot'.

New funded research has meant Starship can give children like Ellie, a young girl with a rare heart condition, and her whānau, clarity around what to expect and how to prepare for this uniquely difficult period of their life.

For many families, like Brittany Hageaiki and her three children, prevention is as simple as providing curtains throughout the house. This small change has meant she has seen her first winter with no respiratory issues, despite her three children all having asthma and experiencing other respiratory illnesses from a young age.

Starship’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in Auckland is the only dedicated children’s intensive care unit in Aotearoa, where our most critically ill and injured tamariki are treated. For children in places like Kaitaia, Palmerston North, and Invercargill, that’s a long way away. The Starship National Air Ambulance service enables intensive care doctors and nurses to retrieve critically ill children from across the country and bring them back to Starship for treatment. While donor support is enabling this Care Unit to be upgraded to space 10 more beds.

We’re proud to have Starship part of The Good Registry whānau, so our givers can support their important mahi through our Good Gift Cards and Registries. Donations enable the Starship team to continue saving and improving the lives of critically ill and injured children.

If you have a birthday, event or celebration coming up in 2023, you can choose to support Starship with a Good Registry.

If you need to grab a gift, thank you or would like to support Starship, you can do this through our Good Gift Cards.
