Introducing our new intern, Kate Sheddan

Kia Ora! I’m Kate, The Good Registry’s newest communications intern and I couldn’t be more excited to get on board with such an incredible organisation.

I’m a student at Massey University in Wellington but am currently located back home in beautiful Mount Maunganui, soaking up the sunshine.

So a bit about me, I am a huge animal lover and a serial dog patter when I’m out and about, how can you not? I think my love of animals comes from growing up rurally, where I was always surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes - including our humungous and sassy Kune Kune pig named pearl.

Growing up I worked with the SPCA, doing collecting work out in my community. This work included dressing up as said animals, more times than I wish to remember, but was all worth it knowing what it was for! That is one main reason I was so interested in working with The Good Registry, as they are partnered with some of the best animal and nature protecting charities in Aotearoa.

The second reason starts with a pair of socks, bacon and egg socks to be more specific. I was given these from a close family member for Christmas and remember thinking, ummm I’m vegan, not sure how I was thought of when seeing these socks in store! So when I heard about The Good Registry and its mission to reduce gifting waste and instead provide people with the ability to make their special occasions so much more, I knew it was the perfect organisation for me to intern for.

My passion is digital marketing and typically much of my work has been to promote products, some which may end up being those unwanted gifts, so I am so glad to get the opportunity to take my skills and offer them to such a good cause.
