An unconventional wedding for Good

Tobias Gilsenan and Fran Avent have an amazingly unique wedding story, including using The Good Registry to give Good on their wedding day.

Tobias and Fran, from Rangiora, were the special couple chosen from many to have a live wedding on The Project in May this year.

The on-air wedding took place during a week-long celebration of Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding, where The Project did all sorts of wedding-related activities - culminating in Tobias and Fran’s joy-filled wedding on the Friday night.

And we were so excited to be involved! In lieu of traditional gift giving, Tobias and Fran opted to use The Good Registry to celebrate their union. They chose to support the Mental Health Foundation - a cause they said was close to their hearts.

In September we received a lovely postcard with a note from the newly-weds, thanking us for being included in their wedding celebrations.

They wrote, “To Christine and the staff at The Good Registry, thank you for allowing the community the opportunity to donate to a charity close to our hearts (in lieu of wedding gifts). There’s so many good reasons for The Good Registry, and we feel grateful that this initiative was part of our wedding.”

Thank you both for your lovely postcard and for giving us the chance to be part of such a joyful experience on The Project. We are grateful to you for championing The Good Registry and supporting the Mental Health Foundation!

Check out the Stuff article about Tobias and Fran for some of the back-story about their romance (and their first attempt at a wedding in 2012).

You can also spread the Good on your wedding day with our Good Wedding Registries. You could support the Mental Health Foundation like Tobias and Fran did - or any of our 60 partner charities!
