MusicHelps is a Kiwi charity that harnesses the power of music to transform lives. They focus on providing people in the music industry with the support they need while also uplifting others by providing grants to local music programmes and services.Â
They are driven by the vision to make music services accessible to all, regardless of age, location, or any other factor keeping anyone from having access to this important resource.
MusicHelps is dedicated to supporting those within the music industry. They recognise the importance of music and the pressure that many people in the music industry face.Â
To support industry professionals, they offer a confidential 24/7 Helpline, counselling services, a free online will-writing service, and financial assistance to music workers experiencing hardship due to illness, injury, or misfortune.Â
As of the 2025 financial year, MusicHelps has provided $45,000 worth of counselling across 267 New Zealand music people and distributed $27,000 to local music workers who needed emergency financial assistance.Â
They also give out a Master of Music Therapy Award to a Victoria University student to support the next generation of the music industry. Â
Through the grant programme, MusicHelps has distributed $137,000 to 36 organisations that provide music services across New Zealand to youth organisations, hospices, schools, medical charities, rehabilitation centres, and more, supporting people who are at risk, vulnerable, or living with health issues or disability.Â
The funding MusicHelps receives from the music industry and other organisations like The Good Registry goes back into their grants programme.
MusicHelps hopes to expand its impact across the country, reaching more people and organisations in need. Increased funding will allow them to continue transforming lives through the power of music.Â
At The Good Registry, we are proud to have MusicHelps as one of our 65 charity partners that you can donate to. If 100 people gifted $5 to MusicHelps through The Good Registry, that would cover nine music therapy sessions.Â
A small donation can make a big difference in the lives of people impacted by music.Â
