Motor Neurone Disease New Zealand
$5.00
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressing neurodegenerative disease that robs people of then their ability to move, talk, and eventually breathe.
Little is understood about the causes of MND. There are currently very few treatment options available, and no cure. The average life expectancy is two to three years after diagnosis.
New Zealand has one of the highest known rates of MND in the world; two people are diagnosed with MND each week.
Vision for the future
Motor Neurone Disease New Zealand envisions a world where no one faces motor neurone disease (MND) alone—where people are supported to live with dignity and hope, and where, one day, MND is treated, cured or prevented.
Mission
Making time count for people affected by MND by offering personal support, advocacy, education, and supporting research.
The difference your gift could make:
$25 could cover the cost of an information pack, providing vital guidance and support for a person who has been newly diagnosed with MND;
$125 could cover the cost of providing support services to one family living with MND for a month, helping them to make time count;
$500 could cover the cost of an MND research project for one day.
